A Lyft driver took off with someone’s cat earlier today, and Lyft, the driver, the Austin police department, and local news stations are doing jack squat to help this poor person get their cat back.
Any noise you can make on this helps. Blow up the Lyft twitter and instagram, boost the reddit thread. Please help us get this poor cat back. Reblog this post for visibility.
Electronic smart cars like most Teslas can and will record location information which will be turned over to the police
How fucking grim is it that not only do we need burner phones, but we’ll need to figure out a way to have a burner car?
It’s not just EVs or smart cars, it’s literally every kind of car. This report just came out last week from the Mozilla Foundation and it’s alarming and disturbing to see what data automakers say that they gather and what they’ll (admit they might) do with it.
The intersection of capitalist invasion of privacy and fascist invasion of privacy is hell, and that’s where we are.
On modern the connectivity/location tracking can be disabled by pulling the fuse for it (it differs based on model) without disabling the rest of the car.
Reminder of one of the “worst” sauropods to have existed. Xinjiangtitan a sauropod of the Mamenchisauridae family that lived during the Middle Jurassic of what is now Xinjiang, northwestern China. It is pretty darn complete for a large sauropod (which is a miracle given how rare they are to preserve )so is good but damn does it look stupid with its stupidly long neck and proportions.

Supplying my own version of this excellent and horrible creature!
i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate’s computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.
so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching “advanced system settings”, go to performance settings, and uncheck “show shadows under windows” and anything else you don’t want. hope that helps someone else.
cool Epic Games just sold Bandcamp to a sketchy company that does subscription-based music licensing. probably gonna move all my stuff to itch.io
they weren’t wringing enough money out of artists already, i guess
this is insanely fucked. videogame music has been safe for a long time from the prying eye of Music Licensing. It’s why so many youtubers/twitch streamers (myself included!) have libraries exclusively of videogame music - unless that song was licensed out, it’s safe to use it without worrying about copyright strikes.
